Paul Auster
Paul Auster s-a născut în Newark, New Jersey, în 1947 și a decedat la New York, în Brooklyn, în 2024, vegheat de soția lui, scriitoarea Siri Hustvedt. După încheierea studiilor la Columbia University, în 1970, Auster a trăit o vreme în Franța, câștigându-și existența din traduceri. A început să publice după revenirea în America și a devenit repede faimos cu Trilogia New Yorkului (1987), urmată de In the Country of Last Things, Palatul lunii (1989), The Music of Chance (1990), Leviathan (1992), Mr. Vertigo (1994), Tombuctu (1999), Cartea iluziilor (2002), Noaptea oracolului (2003), Sunset Park (2010), 4321 (2017), Băiatul în flăcări (2021). Paul Auster și-a testat limitele artistice și în confruntarea cu cinematograful, ca scenarist (cu filmul Smoke, premiat la festivalul de la Berlin în 1995) sau regizor (Blue in the Face, împreună cu Wayne Wang). Scrierile sale au fost traduse, până astăzi, în 40 de limbi. Baumgartner este ultimul său roman. În seria Anansi. Contemporan vor mai apărea Muzica întâmplării și Mr. Vertigo.
